PREVENTING ACCIDENTS & PROTECTING HANDS
/by Communication RostaingProfessionals, individuals, company managers, safety managers, buyers, etc.
HAND PROTECTION
IS EVERYONE’S
RESPONSIBILITY
1.4 million hand accidents,
a third of which are accidents at work.
In France, hand injuries are the first cause of all accidents treated in A&E.
The human and economic consequences are very serious.
ONE ACCIDENT

ACCIDENTS IN
GARDENING

ACCIDENTS
AT WORK
A societal problem
1,400,000 hand accidents a year, in many cases with irreversible consequences: cuts, burns, crushing, etc., representing one accident every 22 seconds.
It is a genuine societal problem that affects us all and grows worse every year.
Sources: Fesum, Ameli – L’Assurance maladie (French National Health Insurance)
Our primary objective: prevention
Accident prevention is inherent to ROSTAING’s business.
It is a great cause to which we are committed as a designer and manufacturer of technical gloves, and is inseparable from our responsibility to society.
Our everyday missions and actions aim to protect users as much as possible. Our gloves can’t eliminate all dangers, but they can at least eliminate or considerably reduce the risk of injury.
Systematic protection
Work, DIY, gardening, etc.: we couldn’t do anything without our hands.
Very often however, far too many people, in their professional capacity or not, use their hands without protection or wear unsuitable gloves or gloves of the wrong size.
No one is safe from a moment’s carelessness.
We need to systematically protect our hands with the right gloves for the right job.
Anticipating risks
Multifunction gloves do exist, but it is better to choose gloves designed for a specific activity. ROSTAING offers specially adapted solutions, the result of precise thought, design and many tests with users in every trade, activity and field.
The best protective technical glove is the one designed for a specific application.
When consulting with companies, the ROSTAING teams draw up recommendations after careful analysis of the jobs or work to be done. Find out more about ACS
The user must be able to act in complete safety with no constraints, to accomplish every action from the most dangerous to the most technical and precise.
Prevention: a key factor in company performance
The most competitive companies are those with the best safety record.
You can’t cut corners when it comes to operator/user safety or the economic well-being of your company.
It is far preferable to carefully assess the risks and provide employees with the best solution for protection, the best grip, the best feel…for even better motivation and performance.
BILLION IN LOSSES
MEDICAL LEAVE CERTIFICATES
PEOPLE INCAPACITATED / DAY
Figues
The economic statistics only take into account accidents that led to a minimum amount of sick leave.
The economic impact of an accident at work has an average direct cost of 3,000 euros per accident and a much higher indirect cost, estimated at a minimum average of 12,000 euros(without incapacity >10%): an overall loss of nearly 1.9 billion euros.
Unfortunately, 1.6% of hand accidents result in physical incapacity (7,592 people per year): 21 people incapacitated per day.
The direct cost represents the amount paid by the company for social security contributions to the National Health Insurance (L’Assurance Maladie) for prevention.
Recent statistics from work accident studies revealed an average cost of 3,000 euros per accident taking into account all the medical costs, pharmacy fees and daily allowances, and an average cost of 21,000 euros with partial incapacity > 10%.
Source: L’assurance Maladie (French National Health Insurance) – Carsat Centre
The indirect cost is inferred and less visible but is far greater. It concerns the real expenses paid in total by the company.
– Time spent giving first aid and possible halt to collective work
– Time associated with lost production and fall in yield
– Psychological impact on other employees, feeling of insecurity, lack of safety,
– Change in the work environment, employees quit because of the dangerous work,
– Social investment to support the injured worker and their family,
– Cost of repairing the damaged workstation,
– Administrative costs, enquiry costs, time spent hosting external services (health and safety inspection, CRAM (regional health insurance service), police, etc.),
– Possible fines (criminal sanctions, extra contributions),
– Recruitment and hiring of a replacement or temp, reorganisation,
– Prevention training and extra safety equipment, reinforced controls,
– Fees for accountants, insurers, assessors,
– Commercial impact of late delivery,
– Damaged brand image.
Several studies with complex calculations have created models for indirect costs.
In simple terms, we estimate the minimum cost to be 3 to 5 times the average direct cost,, i.e. an average of 12,000 euros for the least serious cases (source: Fesum).
GARDENING, DIY…take your safety into your own hands!
ONE ACCIDENT
EVERY
MINUTES
When people are relaxing at home, they often think to put on the right shoes, but rarely the right gloves. We have 5 to 10 pairs of shoes for different activities but few pairs of gloves…
We must systematically wear suitable gloves for a specific activity or application.
Children, too, must be protected when having fun (there is a special ROSTAING children’s glove range).

The most used work tool
Every day, it is the tool most used by man. We count on our hands for their precision, agility, strength, resistance, gripping, etc.
Our fingers bend more than 25 million times during our personal and professional lifetime.
An indispensable and fragile tool
The hand is made of bones, joints, tendons, muscles, vessels, nerves, cellular tissue and nails.
1/4 of the body’s bones.
A very sensitive sensory receptor: 150,000 nerve fibres connect to the brain with 2,000 tactile receptors at the end of each finger.
The glove: a protective second skin
Gloves are much more than just protection for the hands.
They are essential tools that play a part in work processes (and industrial processes) and in leisure activities.
Beyond mere protection, ROSTAING designs its gloves to facilitate movement, to develop and promote every talent and skill.

MANUFACTURING, TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS
/by Communication RostaingIN-DEPTH TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE OF MATERIALS FOR HIGH QUALITY PRODUCTION
The benchmark in industrial glove production expertise.
Rostaing is the benchmark in France and in many other countries, with surely the broadest range of technical gloves for multiple applications.
Rostaing has designed and manufactured over 100 million pairs of gloves in 15 years.
The manufacture of increasingly high performance and innovative top quality products requires extensive experience and perfect knowledge of European and international standards.
Our manufacturing processes begin with the intelligence of the initial concept. They are built on the best choice of raw materials and a culture of top quality manufacturing in our factories in France and overseas.
Our strength resides in our analysis of prototype feedback from the field before we launch large scale productions. Then come our many quality controls.
Constant innovation in fibre combinations and high-tech materials
The range of materials used for production is very broad, for many applications: heat-resistance, fire-resistance, cut-resistance, abrasion-resistance, grip, resistance, waterproofing, etc.
We use our research resources constantly, primarily our own technologies: Zirnium, Tekinox, Griptek, Skinsoft.
We use and process tested raw materials, natural or synthetic (leathers, cotton, nitrile, aramid, silvering, etc.), and combine them with raw materials from high-end technological and technical partnerships (Kevlar, Dyneema, Porelle, Scotchgard,etc.).
Gants fabrication française et internationale
We do business in 41 countries around the world.
As well as controlling all production processes, we also have a logistics network of 150 partners to ensure the availability of your products.

RETEX FEEDBACK
/by Communication RostaingYou are a ROSTAING customer:
make every job position safe through feedback.
Your guarantee of efficient solutions,
field tested with feedback.
Guarantee the best level of protection and dexterity for users.
Improve your productivity.
THE BEST GUARANTEE IS VALIDATION IN THE FIELD
A panel of “field” tests for your gloves for each job position.
Our team carries out a panel of glove tests with your users for each job or application in real situations.
Field feedback is analysed and assessed by our R&D engineers.
Detailed analysis of the results allows us to validate and guarantee the best technical glove solution for every task or application.
RETEX: YOUR PERSONALISED GUARANTEE FOR SAFE HANDS
Manoeuvrability and abrasion-resistance were our challenges. After various tests, we finally chose a range of models selected for their level of resistance adapted to each task.
After job-focused research, different products more suitable to each activity were recommended, thus reducing our consumption and improving the comfort of our teams.
ROSTAING analysed the different requirements for our men in the field and incorporated their feedback. With this information, they advised us on the best technical glove for each type of mission.
With the help of our ROSTAING advisor, we were able to identify and find an effective solution for protecting staff who handle heavy and sharp-edged pieces.
ROSTAING offered us a professional range of gardening gloves, specially developed for intense use which perfectly suited the requirements of our clientèle.
We had a problem with friction heat in our gloves when we were working on rope operations. Rostaing recommended various types of gloves and we confirmed our choice after tests carried out during training exercises.
Whether on exercise at the station, training for fire-fighting or cutting someone out of a vehicle, our needs are very different. For every type of mission, our ROSTAING adviser recommended suitable gloves and we tested them in the field.
